Meditation for pain relief?
Many people have pain, and they are not sure what to do about it. Studies suggest meditation can reduce pain. First, finding a comfortable place. You will sit down with feet flat on floor and sit up straight yet not stiff. As with meditation, you will concentrate on the sound of your breath. You will do your best to focus on the sound of you breathing in and out. If your mind begins to wonder about thoughts, allow yourself to find your breathe again.
Recently Functional MRI studies of the brain show meditators report feeling much less pain than those who don’t meditate.
Keep in mind, mindfulness, tai chi, positive thinking, and deep breathing all help reduce the need for pain medication.
